NCSLMA President

2022-2023

It's time to let your leadership skills shine!

Nominations for this year’s NCSLMA elections will be opening up soon and we hope you will consider serving the NC school library community through one of our elected offices.

The following positions will be open for nominations and included in the September election:

  • President-Elect (serves for three years as President-Elect, President, and then Past President)

  • Region 1 Regional Director (2 year term)

  • Region 3 Regional Director (2 year term)

  • Region 4 Regional Director (1 year term)

  • Region 6 Regional Director (2 year term)

  • Region 7 Regional Director (1 year term)

  • Region 8 Regional Director (2 year term)

  • Secretary (2 year term)

Job descriptions can be found in our Bylaws, which will soon reflect the recent change of expanding our Regional Director positions to 9. We thank our members who participated in the vote for this change, which will create more localized and accessible support for our members while increasing the leadership opportunities on the NCSLMA board. Regions 4 and 7 are included in this year’s election with a special 1-year term to fill all the Regional Director positions for this upcoming year and get them on the alternating cycle. You may also find more detailed information about the roles and responsibilities in the Board Handbook accessible to our members.

You must be a current NCSLMA member to run for an office and maintain membership to serve in a position of leadership (officers and committee members) in the organization. Directors must live in the regions in which they are a candidate for the Regional Director positions.

If you have any questions about the nomination process or upcoming elections, please reach out to Past President Cindy Sturdivant: cindysturdivant@ncslma.org.

Thank you for considering running to help our organization grow!

Check out the cool find discovered by Carolyn Levy:

A swivel book display stand.  It will continue to allow her to offer books cover facing patrons.  So excited to find!  How are other media coordinators displaying their books for students?

In Memoriam of Shelia Robertson

It is with heavy hearts that we share news of the passing of our Middle School Battle of the Books Committee Chair and long-time NCSLMA member Shelia Robertson. Shelia served on the MBOB committee for many years before taking on the role of chair. She led the committee throughout the pandemic years–not an easy task, but she did so with grace and diligence to keep the MBOB program running smoothly. As the Media Coordinator at Riverside Middle School in Martin County, Shelia led her MBOB team to a state championship this past spring. While Shelia requested that her arrangements be kept private, our thoughts and prayers go out to Shelia’s family and school community, and we will miss her dearly.
